Agent Orange Awareness Day

August 10 marks Agent Orange Awareness Day, a solemn observance recognizing the lasting impact of Agent Orange exposure on Vietnam veterans. A national commemoration is hosted annually by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF). The evening includes a candlelight display at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., honoring the thousands of veterans who continue to suffer from exposure-related illnesses. Orange candles are placed along The Wall, the Three Servicemen statue, the Women’s Memorial, and the In Memory plaque. Each one a powerful tribute to a life forever changed.

If your loved one’s life was taken due to Agent Orange exposure, you can honor them through VVMF’s In Memory Program, which commemorates veterans who died as a result of their service after returning home. Learn more about the August 10 commemoration HERE and how to enroll a loved one in the In Memory Program HERE. Let us remember, reflect, and ensure their legacies live on.

Join Us For R.E.D. Friday

Every Friday, we invite you to join us in honoring our deployed service members by wearing red for R.E.D. Friday, a powerful tradition that stands for Remember Everyone Deployed. This nationwide movement began as a grassroots effort and continues to grow as Americans show solidarity with those serving overseas. Wearing red each Friday is a simple yet meaningful way to remind our troops that they are not forgotten. We encourage our members to participate and share their support by posting photos and using #RedFriday on social media. Together, let’s make every Friday a visible show of support until they all come home.

Join a Committee – Help Shape Our Mission

The strength of the Sons and Daughters of the Vietnam War lies in the dedication of our members—and one of the most meaningful ways to get involved is by serving on a committee. Whether you have a passion for history, communications, legislation, or simply want to help grow our impact, there’s a role for you.

Our current committees include:Bylaws · Communications · Membership · Legislative · Veterans Affairs Fundraising · Education · NVWM Women’s Exhibit · America 250

Why We Remember:

Preserving Vietnam War Legacies

At the heart of the Sons and Daughters of the Vietnam War is a simple but powerful mission: to ensure that the service, sacrifice, and stories of Vietnam veterans are never forgotten. As time passes, it becomes even more important for our generation, and the next, to keep those memories alive.

From attending commemorative events to submitting names to the In Memory program, from sharing your family’s story to wearing our message on your shirt, every action makes a difference. Our work honors not only those who served but also their families, caregivers, and all who bore the weight of that era. When we remember, we educate. When we educate, we preserve. And when we preserve, we build a legacy worthy of those who gave so much.

Your voice, your story, and your commitment matter. Together, we ensure that the Vietnam War is not just history, it’s heritage.
